Feature 200: A Walk Back

For Feature 200, I thought it'd be fun to go back through some past features! I'll share the artwork, linking to both the original feature as the number and to the Artist's image through the piece itself as I have been lately.

1: It's only right that place number 1 is from the very first feature, where I shared AnthonyH318's work!

Gelid Graveyard

Can you imagine being the person (or people) who went out in their turn to mark the places of these dead? Anthony has a nice story about the image on it's page so I hope you'll enjoy looking at it again, like I did. And I'm still in full love with the building in the background, barely peeking through the driving snow even if we know that the area is surrounded. Can you just imagine how chilly?

2: Now this second piece is from Feature 30, sharing CaptainEdwardTeague's artwork.

Italian Coast from a Boat

Mm, this piece still just takes my breath away. The waters right next to the city, building upward into those mountains and hills in the back...there's so much I could say but how, since it makes me so speechless? Thank you, Captain, for letting me travel here on just the computer chair!

3:  Ooo, this one is from Feature 151, sharing toonicorn's artwork

Spur Your Imagination

In my first feature of this piece, my eyes were drawn to the dragon on the upper left--for good reason, look at the cloud it's causing! But what do you think of everything else surrounding the winged horse? Isn't it just lovely how toonicorn was able to put together everything that a child would remember on their imaginations, how much fun it all was? I hope none of us have forgotten the majesty of such imagination, despite our age.

4:  This piece is Azurelly's! It's so great to get to speak about it again!

Can't You Hear it's Cry?

Such a quiet room, with the statues of those who may have lived there before. And even quieter because, of course, these room often are gigantic. I almost feel the chill that would be left behind...
Don't forget to revisit the piece in Azurelly's gallery. There's a bit of music that is just perfect for such a place as this.

5: For the final past feature, we're seeing AltairSky's artwork again.

Metamorphosis

This piece still sparks my interest, it makes me wonder what kind of peaceful forest this is, even in the story that AltairSky wrote for the comment linked in the image's page. Then again...what is a story if it's only peaceful? Maybe this is just a small point of rest?

I never imagined that this feature thing would ever get to 200. Thank you to all the artists who show their art and let me share your work! This whole features thing could never have gotten anywhere without all of you.
And thank you to everyone who keeps coming back, too, so glad that you're enjoying the features. To the future for this site and us all!

Feature 109--DCA-Photography

Field of Tranquility

I would love to lay in this field of flowers. Just being able to lay there in the quiet, surrounded only by the sounds of wind and insects! Can you just imagine being able to relax in all of this? And can you almost smell them, too?
DCA-Photography gave us a perfect field of view here, don't you agree? Super work to capture this one!

Bee-autiful

Another thing is how photographers like DCA-Photography can take photos of bees like this. Logically, I know that they don't have to be anywhere too close to it. But it's still amazing that they could be close enough to zoom in so well!
This is apparently a hoverfly; someone kindly identified it in the comments of the photo. But I'd never let logic get in the middle of a great pun, I will always respect the puns more than only cold logic (all respect to the one identifying the insect, however!).

Connection

Isn't it so pretty in this photo that we can see the dust on these butterflies' wings? I wonder how difficult it was to not startle these two while getting in position and adjusting the camera?
That effect in the background helps bring these two even closer to the view than just their orange coloring, too. I love all about this one!

These three photos were amazing, right? I fell in love with every one of them when DCA-Photography linked to them. Go straight to their gallery in the provided link and fall for the beauty as hard as I did!

Feature 98--TFSyndicate

Swimsuit Clowns

The first thing that gets my attention in this piece is the super nice photo of the beach! It doesn't look to be a long walk to splash in the water there in the background. And I bet these girls go to it when they get too frustrated with their volleyball game.
Speaking of frustration...the character closest to the net looks almost like it's time to be thrown into the water. She looks like she's ready to go over there and shake the color out of the green character. This is a very fun piece.

Cloisting Around

TfSyndicate mentions that this picture was taken at The Met Cloisters and it's a great focus on those windows. They're a great focus for this image, look at the way they were built. It's like these windows are inviting people to just look into them.
I love how the characters were drawn so well with the perspective! I wonder what all they looked at while they were at this museum? Did they like the Roman or Gothic parts of this? Whatever the case, they really do seem to be enjoying their time here.

Stella playing Backgammon

You know, I don't understand the first thing about Backgammon. But it sure looks like Stella is thinking hard for her first move. And isn't the board such a nice focus for this image? It's dark enough to draw attention, for sure, and I love the contrast between the board and the pattern on the floor.
Can you imagine trying to play this game against this robot, though? I bet it makes the game even more difficult than it normally is.

Not only are the characters super cute but TFSyndicate took the photos that everything was drawn on! He took all three of these with an iPhone7, isn't that neat? Here is the link to his gallery so that you can enjoy more!

Feature 78--ScottToms

This is a super well-taken photo, in my opinion! The pup front and center with some grasses and the hills behind. It was a good choice to share that lead the dog is on too, it fits in the colors all around. I also think that I like how well the colors go from light in the sky to shadow and neutral in front.
Excellent picture!

Doesn't it almost look like you could run your fingers through that fur? I wish I could make paints work out as well as ScottToms did. I wonder how the texture was created? I think this is acrylic but we all know how untrained my eye is to decide that.
Whatever the case, I bet this was a ton of fun to work on!

The finale of the feature is an absolutely gorgeous photo of a river that is edged by that rock. Beautiful location! It appears like it'd be somewhat difficult to get to this place but really? To see this at the end of some work to get there would be its own reward! I almost wish I knew where this is...
Thank you so much for sharing this, ScottToms!

You guys have got to see what else ScottToms has in his gallery. It was so fun to feature his work, so I'm sure that you'll enjoy what you can find on his page. ^^ Be sure to check his Pet Pics folder and his My Hiking Trips folder while you're there!

Mild NSFW. Working on Norux again!

I have very little right now that is mine but I have to share my current plan. (How else will I make myself do the job later, if I don't tell a dozen plus people that I'm working? XD)

The two poses here are from SenshiStock--have I ever talked well about her collection of poses and how she and her friends take some awesome/hilarious photos at times? Because she's got some great pose references and some even better collaborations with some other reference people. You should seriously check her page if you need references!

Ooh, and if you're looking for references for how a character sheet drawing should/could look, you'd never go bad looking to ArtStation. (Or just a Google search on ArtStation!) I love how well the artists designed theirs; could seriously spend hours on that page just looking at how they designed their characters. XD

Feature 56--Boldfrontiers

Welsh Furnace Falls
I'd be lying if I said I didn't like water scenes (cause this whole feature is full of them). So this one caught my eye immediately, can you see why? The contrast of the water against the golden brown rocks and the brown and red leaves is so fun. Super respect for how much time he may have had to spend at this place to get this photo!
He mentions in the artist's comments that his original piece was processed with the colors I'm such a fan of. If he hadn't said that, I would have just assumed that the location just had these colors! I wonder how much time and experiments that may have taken? Either way, it's some gorgeous work!

Autumn Unicoi Reflections
I just can't get past how perfectly still the water is so it can mimic the trees above it, in this piece. Can't help but wonder how many pictures he had to take to get this to cooperate with him! Then again, maybe it's not unusual for this space?
Doesn't the water seem to be inviting you in with how perfect it mirrors everything? ...it's a trap, though. In the time of year he took this photo, you'd only come out of the water as an ice cube. I'm even more interested in what could be behind the trees here. It'd be so nice to be able to take a walk in these woods, with the sound of the lake behind you and all of the birds and other animals around!

Rocky Morning Point
Another excellent photo taken by Boldfrontiers! Isn't it just something how he was able to catch the dirt and rocks, painted in red by the sunrise, just reaching out toward the waters in front of them? And just look at the nearby water just teasing them!
And doesn't the morning sunlight paint the grass and trees in the background so beautifully? Love how well he caught this. If I were to guess, it was probably a slightly chilly morning. It has to be hard to get out and take photo after photo to capture the exact right one in that kind of setting. Thanks to Boldfrontiers for doing all of this anyway in the search for a great capture to share!

If you would like to see more from this artist, here is his deviantart gallery. He also has his own website if you'd like to see his work from there. And, don't be too surprised, but he has more than water scenes. Whichever link you check out, it's going to be more than worth your time!

Feature 37--Erdbeersternchen

Unfairly tales
This was such a treat to get to look at! Look at how high she was in this photo. Don't the buildings and animals look like just toys here? And take a look at these trees; they look so cute from this angle! If you take a look at the main image I've linked to, you'll see that this was taken in Switzerland.
...yeaaaah, this photo has just given me yet another reason to like that place from afar. XD

smile of the cat
Erdbeersternchen gives a very fun challenge in the artist comment, "You'll know when you find it!"
I personally enjoy the black and white here. It could never have had the same statement in color. What do you think you see? ...do you see it at all?

Dream how I dream to feel
Knowing that a photographer doesn't have to get physically close to a subject doesn't really satisfy my question on this. How in the world did she keep the moth from flying off? Love the background on this, too, how she was able to keep the moth between those pieces of grass? (A not so windy morning or night, perhaps?)

Gosh, it was such a treat to get to go through Erdbeersternchen's gallery. You should take the chance to take a look as well; I promise that it's gonna be worth your time!

Feature 35--eriklectric

Pink Flowers
This is a fun picture to start with, isn't it! I really enjoy how bright the flowers are against the green of the leaves. Aren't they so pretty? I wonder how long it took to grow them to get them to come out so great? Can't wait to see more of his gallery when I'm finished with this post...you should do the same!

Dinosaurs at Sunset
I like how he referred to these in his artist's comments below the photo: "Six shipping cranes, arms pointed upward like the necks of a herd of brontosaurus". Doesn't that make your mind fly like mine with short story ideas for this picture? If this is a herd, what is that off to the right? Just more of the same or some other animals in the picture? And it's fun to imagine the power pole and power line in the background is some kind of predator chasing after these poor things!
So fun!

Above the Clouds
And finally, one of the best scenery photos that I've seen in quite a long time! Look at the clouds lying on top of the mountain and then take a look at the trees in perspective! Doesn't it look like one of the paintings Bob Ross would have set up to show relaxation, had he been able to see it himself? (I love Bob Ross videos so this is some of the highest praise that I can come up with.)

Like I mentioned before, you have got to see the rest of the photography in his gallery! Then the rest of his gallery--you should be able to get into the separate sections by clicking on the folders along the top. It'll be a well-spent hour or so!

Feature 34--TheSoullessRedbeard

My friend, TheSoullessRedbeard, showed me these three photos and I had to feature them. The subject is the Pfalzgrafenstein Castle and I fell in love with all of them. Hope you can enjoy these too!

Pfalzgrafenstein Castle
This is the one that I would have to admit is causing my story making brain to go insane. I have so many characters who would fight the others just for the right to stay in this one! (More fool to them though. As beautiful as this space is, it's probably freezing. XD) TheSoullessRedbeard and I were talking about how this location tended to get very flooded in the past and so he showed me this to demonstrate how high the walls and windows had to be to make it safe?
So very glad that he did!

Boad made of Rock
So the first photo trapped me. This one made me oh so happy that it did! He did a very nice job with the angle here, it shows almost exactly how tall this "little" thing happens to be. Can you imagine needing to stay in something so high to keep the water out?

Pfalzgrafenstein Castle (color)
Our last photo on this feature is just as gorgeous as the rest. The mountain behind it appears to be so close from this angle! The Wikipedia states that this was a toll station in its time--'not to be ignored'? I don't personally see how someone could have! ...then again, some folks are really too stubborn... Let's hope that not many tried. XD

Feature 33--DPasschier

Once More
I really enjoy that the motion on this is entirely the wind. And the tiredness that the model is showing fits the photo perfectly. I wonder what troubles she's meant to have been through? This is called 'once more' and it makes me think that she's just catching her breath to give another shot...maybe the last try, as tired as she appears. Then again, she could easily be just having a thought on how she's gonna try again?

Flame Trees
Love how he's taken this photo. It just looks like he pointed the camera up into the tree limbs to me. Or maybe he climbed up a little way? The red and orange colors are oh so bright against that sky... It's so fun to look at this piece, thank you very much DPasschier for sharing this one!

White Lion
What is it about the strongest of predators that makes them so very cute while they're sleeping? Housecats are one thing, but getting such a close photo of a lion. Wow! (Or is it merely zoom? I'm not sure I would care too much. XD) In the artist comments, he quotes Wikipedia that until a certain year, it was believed that white lions wouldn't survive in the wild--that's why there are so many of them in zoos or other wildlife 'rehab' areas. While it's sad that many of these didn't get to stay in the wild, at least they are getting to live out their lives. (Preferably not in concrete cages!)

If you've liked these photos, I have to insist that you check out his gallery. There are so many more!

Feature 31--isischneider

Frozen Bubbles
This first image is very fun to look at. There has to have been a bit of photo-manipulation going on here and it's really made the piece very interesting! I wonder how he got these streams of light to go all around the bottle? Whether by the light around it or if it has a light inside, the bottle really looks like it belongs to the piece. Excellent work, isischneider!

crepuscular rays
Everyone knows by now that I'm gonna fall all over myself for a good sky photo, right? Good. Because this one fits the bill perfectly--he caught the cloud going over the tip of the sun and was able to share these magnificent shadows!
I find the wind farm on the ground a very interesting break from what is happening in the sky. Can you imagine how slow these wind turbines are spinning? In all, a very enjoyable piece!

Old World Swallowtail
Can you imagine how still isisschneider had to be to capture such a good picture of this butterfly? They're so flighty that even the smallest nothing can make them flee! So just for that, I mark this a super picture. And look how bright the grouping of flowers are. That really sets off the butterfly in a great way.

Feature 30--CaptainEdwardTeague

Sunset in Sorrento
I wonder if that is cloud or land at the horizon? It's probably land, what and how slightly the color in the distance is different than the clouds above and around it. (At least that's my rationale!) The sky keeps my attention for longer, though. The gold to orange to the cloudy purple is gorgeous and look at how prominent the sun is!
On first glance, I imagined that the ship is sailing its way to find the unknown on the land so far ahead. This would be a great piece for the cover of an adventure book!

Italian Coast from a boat
The water and sky in this piece are a great set-off for the mountains and then the city on the coast! This is definitely one of the pieces I love most in CaptianEdwardTeague's gallery, personally. Look at how clear everything is and how beautiful the colors came out in this.
Can't blame him for wanting to go back to Italy after capturing something like he has here!

Modern Day Pompeii and Coast Line
Another gorgeous photo! It's fun to see the cliff over the water and isn't the city itself set off nicely from the dark coloration to the north of it? And this angle is just fun to see, I wonder where he was standing when he took this?

I can't tell you how glad I am that CaptainEdwardTeague shared these when I asked for pieces to feature! Here is his gallery...To find more photos of his trip to Italy, look through the folders for the one named Italy, he has 94 pics in there. But I have to encourage you to look through his main gallery and other folders that are listed!

Feature 23--AmandaObst

Moth
A very well done drawing of a moth. I like it, the patterns on the wings look fairly realistic and I like how she got that fluffy-looking part over the moth's head to look correct. (At least going by the ones that haunt this section of state!)

Hope
A really great shot, I wonder how long it took her to get this one?
I like the emotion that she captured in this piece. That sculpture standing just even with the fence makes me see someone who is leaving a locked in part of their life, and the clouds really help to show what is being left in that fenced area.

Abandoned
This one looks exactly like she stated. Abandoned, no one left to see the marks that were made by gangs and whoever else would make these scribbles. Probably just wandering people who never intended to stay to see their "work" later, something just to claim 'I was here' to anyone else who bothers to come around this place.
Do you see the water shown by the right side window? It just seals the place as being something that may not be easy to reach by the usual means. What kind of dare or trouble did the people with the spray cans have to go through just to mark up that wall?
