Mouse sketch for next character sheet

 

A mildly tacky sketch but it shows exactly what's needed when I go after it with the tablet! Of course, I need to attach the torso to the hip and see what I can do about those feet (just got a hint to make them seem like not high heels like the reference). Plus those evil hands that have to be positioned right. XD

What I'm planning to do is something similar to how I did Norux's character sheet. One with Alexander posed (like this sketch) and one with him standing straight just so we can see detail! It's going to be so fun once I get to it.

And now the completed piece! Golden Hour sky and some of the golden light on the horizon near where the sun is. The shadows work perfectly in what was plain grass and roads! 

I'm so happy to be finished with this. Now I can get to drawing Alexander's character sheet for the next time I'm ready to put him to show. (It's been so long since I've drawn him individually!) Will certainly share when I have something ready for it.

I'm probably going to bring a bit more daylight blue into this. XD It's so nighttime even if the sun is intended to be rising...We shall see what I finally decide on.
That said, I'm really having fun using Krita! Just have to learn how to control the textures a bit more.

WIP

Slowly learning Krita! A friend helped me defeat the "evil" of HDR. (It probably is nice for people who actually need it but it was just frustrating me.) XD So far, if I haven't said so, I've been enjoying this program. It doesn't take all that much time to look up and find things about it if I need to learn whatever, at the moment!

Right now, I'm VERY pleased with the grass here. I just put a flat brush of green down and then drew over that with a color pencil. I wonder if I can get other textures with other pencil brushes? Very fun at the moment! And I can't wait til I get to painting the sky with this program!

I could have so easily done this in FireAlpaca but it was very fun to set it up in Krita, definitely not sorry for downloading this program! I do still have a hair of an issue working with scaling things down (that signature for one!) but isn't that what these projects are for, when testing out a new drawing/painting program?

I'll be working from this from here out since I've been enjoying Krita so far. Let's knock on wood that it doesn't crash on me! Or maybe that was from some of the older versions? We'll see as the drawing and painting goes.

Jadewind Faire thumbnails

 Finally got to settle down to paint this, it was *much* faster than I was thinking it had to be. XD But was still neat to toy with anyway.

Even if I don't know about swiping clouds like I did the footpaths (from previous/unfinished Jadewind and Mountains image) I'm just shocked with how fast this basic stuff came out. New rule to remember for next time...when painting thumbnails, don't make the color layer a multiply layer...would make putting all this stuff together a *lot* easier.

 So it's been a little bit of a while since I've shared anything to do with my drawings--thanks so much for being patient with me! Believe I've shown this version, yes?

I mean, if not, I've been playing with ideas and here's some proof. XD This is some sketchwork to throw ideas together and to decide how to plan the whole image. Here's what I've gotten so far!

 

 

Red Mage Norux (FFXIV)

I have some more light and shadow to add to this fellow's hat (not to mention his shoulders, neck fluff, and those feathers) but isn't he coming out so much better at the moment! I do wonder if the sunlight on the hat is too light but I plan to ask my tutor soon.

Otherwise, I am in love with how he's looking!~
By the way...what is it about Norux and Vae being some of my most difficult models to play with but it ends up so satisfactory to get them finished? I guess most of y'all other artists have that feeling about certain characters or stories that you're bringing together. 

May they all always bring joy to us all!

Tutor thinks that I've mimicked my light source reference too closely on Norux's face. Probably have, I only used an ArtStation thing without knowing more about how things should work? So that will definitely have more work done on it; hopefully before I post him again.

But I have fallen in love with how Norux's ear is coming out of the hair. @@ Pure accident but I want more of that kind of 'mistake'. Also like how his hair has worked out for the moment. Shows the white/gray perfect at the second!

Color needs a bit more blended but I do like how the purple worked out for this! Makes me think that the hair and shadow/light for his clothes is going to be perfect.

I'll probably make another version of this where his colors are less violet, we'll see. (Still sorta struggling with the idea but...it can't hurt to do two versions of all of this. It'll only give me more practice and all! But, like I just said, we'll see.)

Finally got some work done with this guy! Love how it looks right now, too, super thanks to friends suggesting the red on his cheeks and nose.
Have had the idea of putting him in front of the town he stays in and around? We'll see what I finally get into by the end of it!

Tell you what, too. Norux has been so picky about how he looks. XD This is an illusion, what does he care how I paint it? (It's been so fun to play with this. Can you tell?)

Got a bit more to do on the flats but I love how he's turned out right now. Thanks to Final Fantasy XIV for how they arranged the Red Mage to be so decent to paint. XD

Norux seems to enjoy the costume, too. Thank goodness! Can you IMAGINE how he could have fussed and fought about the whole thing if, for whatever reason, he didn't want to be in it? XD Those of you with characters of your own probably understand the complaint perfectly.

Ahaha, yes! His hair! It finally worked! I forgot to add on here that not only did I look at BrutalMoose's hair to create this, but Norux himself has a turnaround that I semi-used this time? But oh my gosh it felt so nice to actually get done with this bit!

From here out, I'm going to touch on how the Red Mage in FFXIV looks to see what would fit and how/if certain bits will work. The character seems perfect for him so I look forward to playing.

Sketching Norux!

Had the idea to put my volcano elemental (Norux) in a Red Mage's costume from FFXIV. Haven't gotten his hair or hat on him yet, but this is great at the second!

Nose seems to be a little wonky to me but who cares? XD Norux's going to make a great Red Mage for this sketch and I can't wait to get a full body sketch drawn and painted, once I figure out how to draw up that hat.
Most important at the second seems to be to put his hair on him so the hat will look right. I've been watching Kirsty Partridge Art's "How to Draw Hair for Beginners" video because I like how she makes it all come out. This seems to make a bit more sense than how I currently do hair...wonder if it's possible to make it work without the drawing staring straight forward?

In theory, of COURSE one should be able. But it is all me right now, too. (All for fun in this case!)

Turnarounds--Character Sheet

I've done some work on his boots and on that strap going around his back on this piece. I can admit the boots don't look exactly proper, but they look better than before I drew an oval around the leg opening. XD And that strap around Norux's back looks better than just going straight down, as if he didn't have any kind of form. 

Tutor said that the strap is showing Norux's form now so I'm glad that it looks a bit better!

Climbing--Character Sheet

 

This climbing drawing has had a bit of editing to him too. Fixed up his arms to the best of my skill and worked out his boots and hair to a satisfying way!

Fire Pose--Character Sheet

Gosh I hope I have done something right on that extended foot. XD Sooner or later, I need to add the all important fire, but time hasn't come yet. (Since that boot is being all kinds of annoying!) Still, it's been fun to play with fixing up his hair to a decent movement and that blade worked perfectly on the pose, imo!

And there will soon be more; about 8 faces with some expressions!

Keep an eye out. ^^

I know that I claimed that on the 17th but this time, since I'm sure he wouldn't pay attention to his illusion so strongly since he's climbing, this is exactly like I imagine it all would look.

This cute little skirt looks a ton better than those straps did in that previous post. And it's so entertaining. Totally because Norux is focused so much on his climbing! It's so fun to see what happens if I let my head wander.
Why did I attempt to use those leather straps when this one is much more funny to see? Oh well.

Yes, yes. This is the wrong day. But I'm so excited about how things just worked out!

Dang that it took as long as it did but, without the reference behind it, he looks a lot better than what I was afraid he would! I know for a fact that it shouldn't be as difficult as it was to draw his back with all of this. ^^

...I just wish I knew why he wants to wear such difficult stuff to plan and plot. XD Yes, he's just mimicking what some of the people near the volcano wear (and he's a victim of my own mind), but it was so hard to plan all this. XD

I have very little right now that is mine but I have to share my current plan. (How else will I make myself do the job later, if I don't tell a dozen plus people that I'm working? XD)

The two poses here are from SenshiStock--have I ever talked well about her collection of poses and how she and her friends take some awesome/hilarious photos at times? Because she's got some great pose references and some even better collaborations with some other reference people. You should seriously check her page if you need references!

Ooh, and if you're looking for references for how a character sheet drawing should/could look, you'd never go bad looking to ArtStation. (Or just a Google search on ArtStation!) I love how well the artists designed theirs; could seriously spend hours on that page just looking at how they designed their characters. XD

Norux's new flats

A good thing has come from getting Norux's illusion form set up! I am now able to create his character sheet--focused only on his illusion for now, since I've got plenty to work with. Said character sheet is going to involve perspective and a few other things...wish me luck please!

May it all come faster than this flat coloring has. I know the design now. Surely the rest should work out easier. XD

While I'm talking, I have to speak about SenshiStock again! For this character sheet that I speak of, I'm going to be using one of her and her group's photo shoots to help see that I get that perspective and correct posing.

--Yet I still paint.

I can even half think about why this weird blue color, on Norux, is a good idea. Something like "what if it's a slip of his illusion, sharing his flame inside?" Right this moment, though, I'm afraid to just accept this. I've been falling into the deep slide of an MS spell and I can barely think of the right words to put down here. So why do I think I can paint or make excuses for it right now?

But I was just fine with more blue color on him before he was ever updated, too. So why am I whining about having it now since it'll match the browns and all that will be here later? >>; I blame being sick. It's not like my brain knows which side is up right now anyway.
