Oh I needed that time...And Ael is finished!

Between doctor visits and life issues that family was having, it was good to have the break I took...though quite longer than I intended! Expect a feature on the 31st and everything should go right back onto schedule as it was! ^^

I'm sure most folks saw when I posted Ael on the Art page, but here he is again fully complete:

Of course the cat would be right there on the counter and turned off stove, right? XD Had some very helpful suggestions from my Tutor what I could have done to just help things the whole way around too, it's always great to hear from him when things are finished! <3

And if I were smarter than I am today, I would have gotten properly started on my homework lessons. Will be going back to working with drawing the cubes and adding cylinders and cones to them, can't wait to have something to show!

More tutoring slots are open!

Art-of-Akrosh has been tutoring me for a time now and he is so very clear with how and what to do to help upgrade your ability! I've been posting his videos on my Videos page but this is even more exciting...he's opening up slots for other students! Here is his DeviantArt account to see an example of what he can teach you! And I have absolutely got to mention his skill with 3D work. You'll see that on his YouTube, here!

(Do go to his YouTube when you have a chance. It shows how he creates some of his 3D work!)

What I've been getting out of the tutoring is amazing so far. Here are a couple examples of what I was doing before I met him:

And now, after a bit of his instruction and teaching:

I never knew I'd use Blender for anything at all. Art-of-Akrosh was able to make it completely understandable to me! And he's been doing a super job teaching me how to stop making my drawings as flat as they were pre-tutoring.
And the poses! They look a lot more sensible than how I was doing before, instead of guessing. That is all helped with his instruction and I look forward to what comes later.

He's also great to just chat with. I can't forget to say that one! There have been several fun conversations about anything and nothing. XD

His monthly tutoring prices are very sensible and what you get from it is so very worth it! So, if you're interested in getting in contact with him for tutoring, I already gave you his DeviantArt account; he is also Art-of-Akrosh on Discord!

Zbrush troubleshooting (video 2)

Part 2 of Art-of-Akrosh's Zbrush tutorial! This one takes care to explain some of the beginner problems in this program. I'm currently enjoying learning with these videos so I hope that you can find some use with them!

By the by. You'll have a much easier time seeing what he is selecting if you go to his Youtube page. Don't stick around on this tiny window!

My tutor has started a series teaching Zbrush!

If you were ever interested in using the program Zbrush to learn how to sculpt with it, this is going to be the series for you! I've shared Art-of-Akrosh's first video (on this) here. All you have to do is subscribe to him so you can keep getting his tutorials on it!

This first bit is very well explained and he is super clear in his explanations while he's showing you what tool he uses and how to get to it? There's going to be a whole series on this, so have fun with the program. ^^

Gesture Sketches

My tutor asked me to do some gesture sketches a little while back. For these gestures, I used SenshiStock's poses from her blue flash drive (advertised here). She has a ton of great gestures that are allowed to be used for everything from assignments, drawing practice, learning how to draw parts of a body...everything great! If you're an artist and haven't found her yet, both those links above will put you straight to her dA and her site. ^^

Any photos that I post here are entirely hers. The icky sketches on gray are mine. We clear on that? Good. ^^

Time Limit on Sketches: 30-45 seconds

Yeaaah, I had 30 gestures to do, but these nine are the ones that made it to the png save. It fought with me to save at all. XD So showing 9 is better than none at all. The important part is that my tutor got the full version of the assignment. ^^; And I have no idea how I drew the pen sketches in such different sizes...every canvas was the same size.

Smartphones can't understand accents

I was playing with my phone and found the voice command option. Decided I'd try to get it to bring me to this website...and well... I got the most interesting results. Asked it to search for/find this website with voice commands and, well...

The best results:
--'5 right birds'
--'rights Birds us'
--'rache Birds uas'
--Tried that last one again and it responded "These pictures should match".
--On another try, it took me to a page asking if I meant 'rachel birds us'.

I can't even get it to take me to my main or art pages of this website. It currently thinks I meant art. Rache Birds. Us.
...Sorry, friend, I think my accent is more difficult than you gave it credit. XD But this has been a very entertaining five minutes. I'll be testing out more phrases later!

And something to do with art: I have a new assignment! It's to do with the bedroom layout I sketched the other day.

Currently am trying to look up and learn the basic dimensions of a bedroom (and the items inside) so I can lay it out inside a grid, for an idea about the scale of the whole thing.

So Clip studio has a grid, that part was easy:

What isn't going to be as simple is copying this whole thing with the grid. ...At least that's what I worry. Then again, I've been worrying quite a bit lately.  This is probably nothing at all.
The best thing about getting this picture on the grid is that my tutor's going to teach me how to use that Blender program I downloaded ages ago!

I believe he told me that he's using Zbrush right now, but he has experience with Blender! You have to look at his digital sculptures that he's created semi recently. I know he's been working on that demon sculpture for a bit.

1pt perspectives!

I'm waiting for the corrections but these are the 1pt perspective things that I had forgotten to do for my tutor. *cough*

I've got to figure out how to draw that cylinder better. It still looks incorrect to me. And I should have drawn through the pyramid but forgot to...imagine a line from that fourth corner going up to the tip. XD

Bird's Eye/Worm's Eye views

Posted the finished version of Tracily Charging Bear on my art page yesterday. She said that she was quite happy with it, so super yay on that! ^^

Something I'm really thrilled about though? Tutor said that I finally got Worm's and Bird's eye views as well as my grid correct. ^_^ ...let me warn you to not grab these if you're looking for references or whatever, though. Hopefully I'll get a little better soonish and be able to draw through the cubes...

Another thing that we're working on is how to draw a grid. It's going to be fun to see how it works in a picture that we're working toward!

Advancing in the tutoring!

Yeaah, this is probably going to be edited soon to add some sketch or quick drawing exercise that I'm doing later... XD But Tutor is getting us into Digital now! ^^ Can't say how excited I am about it...Right now we're doing pretty simple things such as working on Pen Pressure control and how to apply it.

I think I have Clip Studio's line control set funny, I can't make my lines work out like his...then again, this setup is a little different than at my drafting table. Have to keep my tablet at my lap because this desk just has no room for the thing.

But Digital was always easier than Traditional for me. Once this one thing is worked out, the rest of it ought to come a bit easier.

Another day late!

I'm starting to wonder if I should set my schedule to be more around Saturdays instead of Fridays, grief at how much I keep missing the day. Bah, as long as I post sometime on the weekends, right?

All that said, I'm pretty happy with how the sketch for the bedroom came out. Still working to line it cleanly enough to be seen but it seems to fit the chosen thumbnail pretty well!

Thumbnail sketch

I didn't put any of the flooring in and I know very well that the section after the stairs isn't blocked in at all yet, but I'm still fairly happy with how the full page version of this came out. Can't wait til the rest of it is done--hopefully fully digital sometime (but I don't think we're ready to move on to that point yet).

Bird's and Worm's eye view 2

Working on the bird's and worm's eye views again. I think, at the question marks, that the bottom worm's eye has it's top point out of perspective and the top bird's eye isn't lined correctly. That said, tutor did tell me that I have the right idea with both views. I just need to pay more attention to them

So definitely a yay on that point!

Bird's and Worm's eye cubes!

Personally...I think I did better on the bird's eye view this time around. Either way, doing the worm's eye view will not be too awfully hard. Thank goodness! XD

Ellipses in planes

I'm so glad that the practice is starting to pay off. One of these days, I'm going to be able to draw a cube with the circles on it! Aside from that, the ellipses in planes? Since I'm not going to try to do technical drawings, my faking it will do...maybe I'll fake it well, soon! ^^

Another note. I've added a Write page with some poems and short prose that I wrote (anywhere from 2004-2018). Hope y'all enjoy!
...and no. I don't know why I didn't add this when I was still on Box of Blurbs. It woulda made sure that I hadn't forgotten it until this point. Tsk...

Scribbles again!

At least I hope these fulfill the requirements for this assignment. XD Couldn't be bothered to line the curves. They wanted to semi behave once...not going to try it with a pen yet.
Just thought of a pretty sensible question. Why is it that I'm enjoying these so much? These are only lessons--we've not gotten to practical applications of them yet. But I'm just having so much fun attempting to do these!
Planes in perspective
Points and Curves following them

...Suppose it's a good thing. Everything forbid, but I could be cursing and whining about it. No need of that at all!

Playing with squares!

Subdividing squares
Multiplying squares
So. When I multiply squares, or draw straight lines without a ruler, everything tends to go upward and toward the right. My tutor immediately knew that I am right handed after he saw some straight lines and these squares, it's apparently called Right Hand Bias (capitalization mine) and it happens the other direction when a person is left handed.

...At least I'm not crazy. XD
Multiplying & Subdividing squares in perspective
So very much more to do until I get these two correct...I like the very bottom one because of letting the left side go out correctly. The right side is a little funny though. To my untrained eye, I think I'm trying to stretch out my diagonal (from the top left corner of each square) a little too far.

Loving these lessons though, no matter how shaky things are!

Assignments in pencil!

Mentioned that I have a tutor now on the last post.
He had me attempt to draw from some renders he created. What I post now is my attempt to draw from some redlines he gave me

Have I mentioned how little I like drawing in pencil? My hands shake like stupid a lot of the time and I've had to miss a day of tutoring because I felt like awful. Mercy. I hope that's not going to be anything regular...

For now, I'm not certain how well I've done. Haven't spoken to him yet about them (though I've turned them in) so I'm waiting for his redlines again. All my whining aside, I so look forward to the next assignments.

Someone's going to tutor me!

Well now, this is something I haven't been able to stop cheering and being excited about since I spoke to him...Tuesday, I spoke with someone about learning from him to eventually be able to draw characters and paint backgrounds. He even wants to work with me about the payments!
Once we hammered out how he'd be paid, he told me to find something to want to work toward...

SO!

I picked out Studio Ghibli for the backgrounds that they produce as my inspiration. Upon watching Princess Mononoke and drooling a nice mess all over everything, I've realized two things:
1. That Studio Ghibli is an excellent group to be inspired by
2. That I am stupid and insane and out of my mind to want to reach that far.

Mentioned that someone's tutoring me. He's said very clearly that I'm going back to traditional means for now so that he can teach me some things. And whoooo, did he find a handful of problems that my work has...super glad that he could see them. I look forward to working on all that he pointed out, too!
Just expect plenty of scanned in works for a while.
