Gesture sketches and relief

I'm half certain that these are going to post in a horrible website translation of what order I've asked it to do. Because how can a website understand what is intended as simplicity? XD That said, I'm going to be posting more phone images of these things (hopefully without putting my medicine front and center again!). My tutor has suggested a good type of paper to use when I'm going to be going through them as quickly as gestures require and I'm going to try to keep buying them--in my store, the pad of paper was only about 5 dollars for 100 sheets? Hopefully, I find more the next time I go by!
Anyway. Expect many more of these gestures in the future.

And the day this blog posts will have been my last appointment at therapy! It feels like I've definitely gotten more stable with my balance and I'm not getting exhausted so easily. ...now let's hope that I get my sleep schedule back in order. Everything will be right again when that happens!

Finally got some gestures to show!

I haven't gotten my tutor's corrections on these yet but I'm just glad to have gotten these done. They're surprisingly fun, provided the computer isn't lagging to hell and back or otherwise refusing to behave. Then, on the first, I'm going to buy a few cheap sketchbooks so the computer doesn't get to force me to slow down so badly.

Gosh I can't wait to get a newer computer (or get this one repaired). Would even prefer to have this one repaired but no one else in the house has ever thought of doing that. You know what that means? It means, as the person who's usually asked to try to help fix small things about the computers we have, I have zero idea about if trying to have it repaired will work or even help. It's nonsense.
One way or the other, though, at least this dang thing won't have me held up too much longer.
...because c'mon. Long as the internet works, exactly why should I want the computer to behave more? It couldn't possibly be because I was selling some art to people, naw. Art is just for fun, you see. >>;

Blah. Sooner instead of later. At least I have that going for me right now. And I'll get the rest of these 20-30 gestures finished in the meantime, online or on paper, then will show them again!

Apology for my absence!

My gosh, it's been so hard to just sit down these past weeks! I'm sorry for all of my delays on posting either the features or my own work. Hopefully, I'll be getting right back to that and soon.
That said, I'm slowly punching together those gestures that I promised earlier. I'll have at least 10 or 15 of them posted by next Wednesday.

Also, if I haven't advertised it yet, if you're interested in doing your own gesture sketches, you should check out SenshiStock.com. Definitely pay for some of her stock, she has several poses and several hilarious ones that you could use for whatever excuse your brain comes up with! And she even has a space on her site for timed sketches.

I'll see y'all later!

Gesture Sketches

My tutor asked me to do some gesture sketches a little while back. For these gestures, I used SenshiStock's poses from her blue flash drive (advertised here). She has a ton of great gestures that are allowed to be used for everything from assignments, drawing practice, learning how to draw parts of a body...everything great! If you're an artist and haven't found her yet, both those links above will put you straight to her dA and her site. ^^

Any photos that I post here are entirely hers. The icky sketches on gray are mine. We clear on that? Good. ^^

Time Limit on Sketches: 30-45 seconds

Yeaaah, I had 30 gestures to do, but these nine are the ones that made it to the png save. It fought with me to save at all. XD So showing 9 is better than none at all. The important part is that my tutor got the full version of the assignment. ^^; And I have no idea how I drew the pen sketches in such different sizes...every canvas was the same size.

Cera's Bedroom, features, and figure sketches

I love frustrating myself. >>; Didn't paint half of my shadows that I planned... But so be it, this is the complete version here, til I get started with another perspective on this room.

Pretty thrilled though. Tutor got us started on drawing figures...and you know what that means. Gestures! Right now mine aren't too great, but I definitely expect that to change at some point. Might post the current 30 that I'm drawing next week, so expect that and other mildly boring work from my end for a little.

I'll keep doing the features as well, it's just nice to show off other people's good work. The only thing I need to change is the day I post my own...Let features keep Mondays and try to have my work posted on Wednesdays. XD Something will work out.

Couple of practice pages.

Too excited about the top version of the sketches, since I just finished them.
These guys aren't stickfigures as much as they're supposed to be catching the movement of a pose. (Can't do that with the stiff lines of a stick!) And I still have a ton to learn about exaggerating them--they're supposed to exaggerate so they won't be stiff when the rest is drawn.

Anyway. So excited because 1 hour gave me time enough to try to catch 15 figures! 15 "people"!

Bob Ross and gestures

Bob Ross - Reflections

I've been drowning myself in these videos while I'm drawing. Love hearing his voice and the sounds of his brush or other tools going against the canvas while I work. It's just so soothing!

I'll be posting some gesture practices here, soon. (There's your warning.) When I learn how to connect a pose's spine to its leg, as you do for gestures, maybe then we'll see some actual figure building!
