Hey, the artblock is dead! Plus, Kesimpta 3!

Absolutely thrilled that some drawing has been able to happen! I could complain about how the drawings aren't showing the right perspectives...but no. I'm too thrilled right now that I was able to any drawing at all. This is some of my stone formation studies that I should have been working on forever.

Of course, the Artist's Ego is singing about every one of these. XD It's been almost an age since I've been able to relax and sketch/draw! No thanks to being so anxious about starting on the new medicines and everything...

Speaking about new medicine, you guys see that I have this titled Kesimpta 3. I took my 3rd loading dose on Wednesday! This means that I skip a shot on this next coming week and...the Kesimpta becomes a once a month medicine on the 8th!
Can I tell you how exciting that is? ...I won't have to face that (barely hurtful) autoinjector but once a month! Whee!

Norux's fire pose is finished!

Only one more pose to design--and that last one on the right should be much easier than the kneeling one. Pretty excited about how well this is working out. It's not going to be long until color can be added!

...Yes, I've got one boot to add on the kneeling pose but I'm so lazy that I wonder about hiding it with fire. XD My ego probably won't allow me to do this but it's a fun idea to play with. We'll see!
Also, I finally copied the sword handle and put it on the front and back facing poses on the left. They finally look complete!

Even better! The next time this is posted on the blog, the front and back poses should have some color! You saw those before on this picture; so I'm pretty excited to see if they fit just as well on this piece.

Norux Character Sheet

Stars, I finally got started on his back. I apologize for not getting any further yet, but I can't wait to see how the rest of his sketch is going to work out. It should be easier than the front facing sketch at least!

It's a good thing that the picture ought to be easier to work out. I've been having to sleep so dang much this past few weeks! 90% of being so worn out is no doubt what the temperature has been. (Thanks a lot, MS!) Summers and I have rarely worked out any kind of agreements. It usually works out to me having zero energy til the temperatures cool down.

I'm such a dolt. XD

Got a new tablet yesterday and it's been behaving so beautifully! The buttons work out fine and I was even able to edit one of them almost immediately. Oh my gosh, I don't have to reach for the keyboard to get to Ctrl-Z, or to make the brush size bigger or smaller! It even has a button to help grab onto the canvas so things can be moved around!!

Had a bit of an error though that took me one hour to figure out. The pen and brush were behaving like this:
Red mark is mine, shows where the cursor was

Kept looking in and at the driver, kept poking with other programs. It took me a whole hour to figure out that Clip Studio's preferences allows a person to only see the brush.
Didn't need the cursor at all and that was the whole of my problem.

Bring all the facepalms, you can still cash them in for my embarrassment. XD

It's finally working!

I'm so thrilled that I could scream! Finally got some of the mid-ground to work--the dirt path finally actually cooperated! The hill wants some more detail, as does the water, but the background is finally cooperating.

Backgrounds like these are always so fun to work with, can't wait til it finally comes out.

Leana & Valeon

You know, I kinda feel sorry for these two. They've been having to stand in this pose and be so terribly still! I bet all the birds and animals in the area have used them entirely as trees. >>;

As of now I'm actually pleased with the water. Isn't that amazing, as much trouble as I gave myself with Waver?

Edit:
Trees! Oh my gosh, there are actually trees! ...now to build the rest of the background and the ground around the characters. >>;

Sketch 1 complete (at the moment)

Yay! Finally got the forward sketch in order!
I'm looking forward to getting the second view sketched in, it shouldn't be as difficult as it was the original!

...Then, as we already know about me, I'm going to redraw over the both of them several times before they're painted. So please pretend to be excited. XD

Tre's shirt and CSP layers

(Edit on Sep 19 post)

I have been dying to get finished with this because I've been stuck for so long. XD Got finished with his top though, so all I need now is his jeans and boots (as well as a few more lines to make him wear his gloves).
Have got to get more clothing references, the front of his shirt looks so flat. BUT I love how his sleeves came out!

The sooner I'm done with the lines is the sooner I get to color and finish this. Can't wait.

Also, Clip Studio Paint is a great program. @@ Should have known how to change layers back and forth from raster to vector. Silly me only found how today... Yes, I've already squealed about this on a too short deviantart journal post, but if I hadn't found this, I'd have probably needed to just trace my lines instead of fixing them!

Edit:
I'll figure out how to fix his top tomorrow. But I'm quite pleased with his jeans!

"Get Off Me!"

Flakey Orange Stone texture by Max Boughen

Can't quite figure out anything else to do to this without making it look bad, so I guess it must be finished. Other than not getting to do more...I think I'm real happy with how this turned out. It's going to be somewhere around the line of fun to go around this process with my next pieces, too.

Looking forward to it!

Yes. Yes. and YES again!

Plenty still to work on with the current project but, due to a few good crits/comments, I've got a plan to go with. Mostly by using a painting term that I'm not really good with yet... Contrast. Learn how to make the colors in the image contrast with each other to help lead the eye to the main subjects. ...Seems like this is going to be the piece I have to take my training wheels off. *faint*

1. Turn the skeletonguy on the front and right darker, like a silhouette. Check.
1a. Turns out I'm pretty happy with him. Thank goodness!

2. Make Valeon's magic a bit brighter as the light focus of the piece. Check.
2a. Have them highlighted in accordance to the magic--probably need to take it another few
steps forward but I'm happy with it right now. Let's see if I find the other shadows needed!

Other ideas that don't have a set place are:
-Color that tree and make it fit into the picture
-Do something with that sky to make it not so flat
-Make the colors not so samey--they're around the same dullness all over

And here is the work in progress (edited 5-22-16):

Valeon idea!

...it won't be exactly like the old picture shown here, but I have a feeling it'll be a bit more fun. XD

Draw up a wall to pin him against, then draw a couple more figures around it, and I'll have a far more interesting picture! @@ Plus, it'll show Valeon in trouble again and that's the whole point. What fun is a character who's never having problems?

Edit: sketch drawn April 27, 2016

Excellent!

Not only is a book I've ordered coming in tomorrow, I've learned another trick in Clip Studio!

The book in question should help me finally understand and recall the names of the muscles used when watching someone draw. It's a little embarrassing to be watching an artist and not have any clear idea what they're saying until it's drawn, so this should be in tomorrow unless the post office has a problem.

In Clip Studio, I've finally learned how to tamper with the light source on its poseable reference dolls by complete mistake. ...kinda shameful, because I'm certain one of my friends told me about this and even walked me through it at least three times...
Let me (attempt to) save anyone else the trouble. The Light Source checkbox is under Tool Property when you've placed any 3D object on the canvas. Click the plus symbol beside it and you'll be shown a sphere where you can tamper with where the light and shadows fall. There's also a place underneath that where it changes the width of the lines around the object.

Note that this only works before you've finalized what you've done with the 3D object.

I don't know if this is exactly true for anyone who uses Manga Studio, but I was told that Clip is just the download version. If the instruction is different for MS, please leave a comment and I'll be sure to edit this post.
