Feature 218--Mbembe

 

Storm Pinup

I've fallen in love with how well Mbembe has done the clouds on this piece. And it's exactly what we'd see on Xmen when Storm is using her powers against whatever foe they're all coming against.
Does Storm wear a suit like this? Maybe she's hopped down from somewhere high and is in the process of standing back up, where one of the others caught this photo while the villains are spelling everything out in their villany. (Or, more likely, the camera showing the characters has gotten this pose.)
In all, it's a really fun piece, great work!

I have to say that Mbembe is quite good with anatomy! I wonder how long it took him to learn to draw the human form so well? And to be able to turn it into something of a cartoon/comic style just as easily! Much respect for his talent, excellent job.

Yusagi Yojimbo

Mbembe did an amazing job with this armor, in my opinion. It looks like it could help guard this character in any battle he's in! Unlike how some of the shows and videogames handle their armors. Full respect to Stan Sakai, the comic's artist!
Back to Mbembe's fanart here, the colors on this piece look quite well done with the 'sun' in red behind the blue and black of Yusagi's suit. Excellent work here!

Feature 187--midnightgravedigger

Feral

According to midnightgravedigger, this character is called Feral. He got the idea to draw this because he didn't agree with what the people in Marvel had done on the comic he saw Feral in.
Oh my gosh though, isn't the way he drew the hair just lovely? It definitely helps give the idea of a feline of some kind. I wonder if she were turned into this mutant because a cat walked nearby her when the chance was coming about?

Submissive2

Midnightgravedigger named this character Submissive. Was she some comic character as well? I have no idea but I absolutely love how that dress has come out!
To me, she seems to be kneeling before some kind of higher power, perhaps some kind of spirit that gives her the skills she's able to work? Or perhaps she's just before someone who is like a king or queen, waiting patiently to be noticed.
Super good work!

Laboratory Subject: Wendy

Poor Wendy, dropped into the acid just to be turned into the next experiment! Can you imagine having to be awake during all of this, while the acid changes so very much of your skin and even likely preparing your body to grow more limbs...I bet the scientist behind this got taken apart for this misery before the end of it!
How I'd love to get to read the story behind this. The image is amazing and it looks like midnightgravedigger knew just how to make that acid appear just so miserable. Amazing work!

Feature 178--Crossdigi

 

Spiderman vs Green Goblin

This is going to be a common theme of my comments but I don't know much about the Marvel comics, or even if these two ever met each other. But isn't it the best position for them both to be in? Falling as if they've leapt from the edge of the high rise building in front of us, dealing with all of their fight in as they come closer and closer to the ground beneath!
Let's hope Spiderman has some way to get out of that rope in time...

Cosmic Ghost Rider

I've heard of the Fantastic Four, so to get to see a piece of art that shows them? That's very exciting! And be sure to take notice of everyone in the background.
Ghost Rider isn't something that I know about, however, so let's just go to how great his clothing and pose is! His armor on the chest is just amazing, I wonder how long it took to paint it and to make it all come together? The shining bands around his wrists are amazing too. I wonder if that helps keep his inventory in reach or if it helps control himself? ...it's also quite possible that they are just to seem cool. That's always a perfect reason to have them. Amazing piece!

Dr Doom: King of the Universe

This is such a lovely setup! First off; of course I like villains way too much so his pose looks excellent for destroying something, but can we just admire how the starry background helps to bring him forward into our sight? The colors everything is painted just gives that extra oomph and it's great!
Speaking of the pose, it's done super well. It can be so hard to position a pose doll in whatever program, so super respect to get everything to work like it has! And of course, amazing respect for how well Crossdigi painted this. Because I think most of us know that most pose dolls don't have their own armor and whatnot. Excellent work!

Feature 138--CierinBlue

Steven Cross Portrait

CierinBlue starts off very strong with a portrait of her character, Steven Cross. I personally love how she has painted that skin tone. And let's not forget that hair! Wonder if it was painted with a texture brush?
My eyes also keep going back to that blue/gray background. Not only was it painted perfectly to help bring the character forward; but I am in love with that cloudy pattern.

Chadwick Boseman Portrait

This one was great to get to come across; a perfect respect for Chadwick Boseman's legacy.
The hair and beard have been done very well. But can I just squeal about how great of a job that CierinBlue did on the skin tone again? In no way is the color flat nor does the light appear to just be laying on top of it.
Super job done on this!

Steven Cross: Waiting

He doesn't seem to be all that impatient with whoever he's waiting on, does he? Love how occupied he's keeping himself in that coffee shop.
Here we are again with that amazing hair and skin! I know I've mentioned that every single one of these but how could I not? This realistic style that CierinBlue uses lends itself to pieces this great!
